Dora and the Fantastical Creatures

Prepare to embark on a thrilling journey with a beloved childhood adventurer, Dora the Explorer, as she returns in an exciting new animated theatrical short titled “Dora and the Fantastical Creatures.” This time, Dora takes on a whole new look with dazzling CGI animation. The adventure begins exclusively in theaters on Friday, September 29th, leading the way for the much-anticipated release of “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” brought to you by Spin Master Entertainment, Nickelodeon Movies, and Paramount.

For fans of the iconic explorer, there’s even more excitement in store. A brand-new CGI animated preschool series featuring Dora is set to debut in the spring of 2024, exclusively on Paramount+ in the United States. International audiences will be able to stream Dora’s adventures simultaneously on Paramount+ and catch them on Nickelodeon channels in all markets where they are available.

In “Dora and the Fantastical Creatures,” Dora, voiced by Diana Zermeño, teams up with her trusty companion Boots, voiced by Asher Spence, for an extraordinary adventure into the enchanting realm of alebrijes, the most magical and colorful creatures inhabiting the rainforest. Their mission? To unite against the mischievous Swiper, voiced by Marc Weiner, and save the cherished alebrijes and their vibrant Copal Tree Celebration. The short film also boasts a star-studded cast, including Anairis Quiñones as Luna Arcoiris, Danny Burstein as Sol, and Kate del Castillo as Ale.

Following the premiere of “Dora and the Fantastical Creatures,” fans can look forward to a treasure trove of additional Dora content available across Nickelodeon platforms, Paramount+, and Noggin.

Behind the scenes, the short is brought to life by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, California. William Mata takes the director’s chair, working from a screenplay by Alejandro Bien-Willner and a story crafted by Bien-Willner and Sean Gill. Eryk Casemiro, Executive Vice President of Global Animated Series at Nickelodeon, oversees production, while Miriam Ritchie and Marielle Kaar serve as Nickelodeon’s Executives in Charge of Production for the short. It’s worth noting that “Dora the Explorer” was created by the creative trio of Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes, and Eric Weiner.

The upcoming Dora series boasts a talented ensemble of voice actors, including Anairis Quiñones as Map and The Fiesta Trio’s armadillo, Maria Canals-Barrera as Abuela, Danny Burstein as Grumpy Old Troll, and The Fiesta Trio’s frog and marmoset, Katarina Sky as Backpack, Donovan Monzon-Sanders as Tico, Tandi Fomukong as Isa, Quintún Muñoz as Benny, and Chris Gifford as Big Red Chicken.

“Dora the Explorer” has earned its place as a colossal brand within the entertainment world, annually accumulating several hundred million dollars in merchandise sales, akin to the success achieved by Viacom’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” This enduring franchise has left an indelible mark, and its animated feature grossed over $162 million worldwide, while the live-action film, “Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” released in 2019, achieved over $120 million in global box office earnings.

As Dora once again embarks on her fantastical adventures, fans young and old are in for a delightful treat, marking the next exciting chapter in her enduring legacy.
